At Bixby Park (130 Cherry Ave.), amid the laughter of kids in the playground and the music being performed on a small stage with the Pacific Ocean just across the street, the vibe feels like a waterfront festival. The market runs from 3-8 p.m., and not only is its energy terrific, so is the selection of items: fresh fruit and vegetables, gourmet specialty foods as well as hand made jewelry, soaps and candles from local makers. There is also a wonderful variety of prepared food with the empanadas and pupusas being high on the popularity list.
